Lunar New Year Horse
A Yoga Therapy Practice for Direction, Momentum, and Regulated Drive
A guided somatic practice to work with impulse, movement, and forward energy without urgency or collapse.
The Horse is often associated with speed, strength, and forward motion. In cultural and spiritual contexts, it is praised for endurance and drive. Many people greet this energy with excitement or pressure, assuming the year asks them to do more, move faster, or finally push through what has been stuck.
The deeper question is not how to harness momentum, but whether the body knows how to regulate it. For many nervous systems, forward motion has historically come with cost. Burnout, overextension, loss of choice. The result is either collapse or constant self override.
This practice explores how to relate to momentum without being pulled by it. Not by restraining energy, but by learning how direction emerges from regulation rather than force.
This article is a self paced somatic exercise. It is practice based, not informational. Nothing here requires completion, interaction, or performance. You can move through it in parts, return later, or stop at any point.
If you are new here and want to orient yourself before making a financial commitment, there is a separate article database on my Substack that is available without subscription. Those articles are for context, reflection, and understanding. The practice based pieces are intentionally held here.
You are welcome to take your time deciding what kind of engagement feels right.
If something in the idea of momentum brings curiosity, caution, or mixed sensation, that response is meaningful. This practice does not ask you to adopt the Horse’s energy. It asks you to feel how your system relates to movement at this moment.
If that kind of paced, honest engagement feels supportive today, you are welcome to continue.
